How to Get Fragile Resin in Genshin Impact
Gaming February 2, 2022 Mecha Sushi 0
Resin is an resource in Genshin Impact that enables you to farm important artifacts and materials that would make your characters stronger. This is also most probably a way for developer Mihoyo to keep you from playing too long (or maybe encourage you to spend a bit of cash). As with most gacha games, this “energy system” allows players to better manage their game time (stopping when Resin is depleted) while still being able to log in everyday.

What is Original Resin?
Before we get into Fragile Resin, let’s discuss first Original Resin. Original Resin is used for getting rewards from overworld bosses, as well as in artifact, material, and boss domains. You also need them to unlock Ley Line Blossoms (Blossoms of Wealth give Mora, while Blossoms of Revelation give EXP materials).
You’ll need 40 Original Resin to get rewards from one successful domain run. (Note: for domains, you can also use Condensed Resin crafted from 1 Crystal Core and 40 Original Resin. This will double the rewards gained from a single run.)
40 Original Resin are also required for the following overworld bosses*:
- Anemo Hypostatis
- Cryo Hypostasis
- Geo Hypostasis
- Pyro Hypostasis
- Cryo Regisvine
- Pyro Regisvine
- Rhodeia of Loch/Voice of the Water/Oceanid of Quince
- Primo Geovishap
- Thunder Manifestation
- Golden Wolflord
- Maguu Kenki
- Perpetual Mechanical Array
For weekly bosses* in Trounce Domains, you need to pick three among the following. Each requires 30 Original Resin, for a total of 90 Original Resin to complete the Weekly Challenge:
- Andrius
- Azdaha
- Childe
- Dvalin
- Signora
Every 16 hours, your resin is replenished to 160. When you’ve reached a certain Adventure Rank and are farming for artifacts and materials, you’ll quickly find out that 160 Original Resin isn’t enough. That’s where Fragile Resin comes in.
What is Fragile Resin?
Fragile Resin is a reward you get for doing certain tasks in-game, which, when broken down, produces 60 Original Resin.
How to get Fragile Resin
There are a few ways to get Fragile Resin in-game, most of which require patience:
1. Raise your adventure rank
Hello, grinding! Fragile Resin come as rewards when you hit certain Adventure Ranks:
- You get 1 Fragile Resin at ranks 12, 16, 16, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, and 28
- You get 2 Fragile Resin at ranks 25, 27, and 29 to 60.
When you reach Adventure Rank 55, the grind becomes harder as it takes so much EXP to move up another level, so best clear out all those map side quests for a bit of a boost!
2. Go through Battle Pass challenges
Once you’re at Adventure Rank 20, you get to unlock the Battle Pass, which presents you with several challenges which you need to complete within a certain period in order to get Battle Pass EXP and get rewards.
The Battle Pass has 50 levels. If you opt to go with Sojourner’s Battle Pass (a.k.a. the free route), you get 5 Fragile Resin. If you choose to purchase Gnostic Chorus (a paid option which affords you Battle Pass weapons, a name card, and other items), you get 5 more.
3. Level up your Sacred Sakura tree
When you have enough Electro Sigils from chests, one-time domains, and Statue of the Seven unlocks, visit the Grand Narukami Shrine in Inazuma to level up your Sacred Sakura tree. You’ll get a Fragile Resin when you at levels 1, 11, 21, 31, and 41).
4. Participate in events
Some events have special log-in bonuses which deliver Fragile Resin right into your inbox. Always check Genshin Impact updates for details!
5. Have your cake
On your birthday, you get Cake for Traveler in your inventory. Use it to get 1 Fragile Resin.
6. Buy the Wayfarer’s Supply Bundle
Similar to unlocking Gnostic Chorus, you’ll have to spend real money for this: buy the Wayfarer’s Supply Bundle for 980 Genesis Crystals, which contains 50 Hero’s Wit, 25 Mystic Enhancement Ore, 50,000 Mora, and 1 Fragile Resin. You can get Genesis Crystals by purchasing them at the Crystal Top-up window with cash. The bundle refreshes weekly. As most players who have spent on the game will tell you, this really isn’t the best option to spend your cash on.
BONUS: Getting Original Resin using Primogems
You can exchange your 50 Primogems for 60 Original Resin, but honestly, this isn’t an economical way to do it, as you’ll want to save your Primogems for character and weapon banners. REMEMBER: the amount of Primogems you will need in order to get 60 Original Resin WILL GO UP after the first time you refresh using this method so this method is not recommended.
When should you use Fragile Resin?
So should you just stash away your Fragile Resin? When do you use them? The answer honestly depends on your strategy, but in the natural progression of the game, there’s really no need for you to use them until you’re at Adventure Rank 43 to 45, and you’ve begun to really farm artifacts and level-up materials in earnest. At that level, you’re more or less capable of clearing more difficult domains and getting better drops.
Once you reach Adventure Rank 50 upwards, you’ll notice that it gets harder to get Fragile Resin, as gaining experience becomes a full-on grind–plus you’ve probably gotten your Sacred Sakura tree to Level 50 by this time, so there’s no more Fragile Resin to expect. The best way to get them at this point is to participate in Battle Pass events, because even if you won’t unlock Gnostic Chorus, you’ll at least get 5 without having to shell out real cash.
