Dota 2 and CS:GO fans take note! NVIDIA has just announced that they are powering the GeForce eSports Xtreme Tournament (GEXT) in Southeast Asia again for 2017. This year’s GEXT has US$75,000 worth of prizes up for grabs.
Organized by NVIDIA, GEXT will take place in GeForce Certified iCafes which feature gaming PCs powered by NVIDIA GeForce GPUs. The tournament will take place in five countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. The two said games, Dota 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive, will be the games played at GEXT.
The tournament aims to grow the gaming community in the region by creating more accessible opportunities for amateur gamers. It will be streamed live to allow gamers and eSports enthusiasts around the world to follow the development online.
The first match of GEXT kicks-off today (June 16) in the Philippines. The Philippine leg will take place until July 6 (see here for the full list of participating gaming cafes). The Philippine leg will be followed by tournaments in Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand; the winners from each country will get to compete in the GEXT Regional Grand Finals at the end of this year.
“The gaming community in Southeast Asia is among the fastest growing in the world. NVIDIA is delighted to do our part to give gamers better gaming experience with our award-winning GeForce GPUs which are used by thousands of iCafes around the region and millions of gamers at home,” said Simon Tan, director, consumer business, APAC South, NVIDIA.
GEXT is supported by gold sponsors Colorful, Coolermaster and Palit and silver sponsors Galax, MSI, Thermaltake, and TTesports.
