Livestreamed from their unveiling event in India, Xiaomi has announced the release of the Mi4i. A successor to last year’s Mi4, the Mi4i packs goodies in its specs that Mi fans have come to love at a pricepoint that any smartphone user would appreciate.
The Chinese smart devices maker announced their new smartphone together with a few important sales figures. It appears that Xiaomi is now the number one smartphone brand in China, the country with the greatest volume of consumers and the battleground for all smartphone makers in general. If you can make it in China, you’ve secured a significant piece of the consumer pie for your business.

A 64-bit octa-core 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 sits at the heart of the device, complemented with an Adreno 405 graphics card and 2GB RAM. MIUI 6 – the latest version of Mi’s OS – is overlaid on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop. The handset comes with 16GB of non-expandable memory, as the phone is of a unibody design.
The Mi4i boasts of a Sony/Samsung 13MP rear shooter with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone flash (standard white and slightly yellow LED bulbs), and a 5MP front camera with f/1.8 aperture for your selfies. It also comes with a 3,120mAh battery, a quick charge feature (100% in 3 hours), and dual SIM, dual standby capability.
The Mi4i has a price tag of RS 12,999 or roughly P9,083. Availability in the country will be announced soon.
