We’ve become more and more reliant on CCTVs not just to aid in investigating suspect activity, but to also capture accidents and even natural disasters. WD has beefed up their Purple drives to accommodate more data from many more sources and to keep the data safe and secure.

CCTVs and other scalable network video recorder (NVR) surveillance systems keep a lot of data in storage every single day. They are always on, and the video they capture goes straight into hard drives for archiving and possible access. Keeping large amounts of data secure from corruption is one of the benefits the new WD Purple line of 3.5-inch drives offer, thanks tarnish-resistant elements built into the high-capacity 4TB and 6TB variants.

WD’s homegrown AllFrame technology helps reduce footage loss, pixelation, and interruptions within a surveillance system. This means that footage – no matter how many sources it comes from – is all written on the drives with little to no resolution loss. The Purple drives also have built-in support for high numbers of HD cameras, giving owners of large locations the flexibility to upgrade the number of CCTVs or security cameras they have with no fear of footage being lost because the drive capacity is low or cannot keep up with the amount of data going into them.

Both 4TB and 6TB versions of the new Purple drives come with a three-year warranty and will be available before the quarter ends at all licensed WD dealers and partner establishments nationwide.
