The Redmi 7 is no slouch when it comes to the looks department. It seems like phones of all budget ranges have found a way to make their aesthetics pop with color but at the same time look premium in the hand. For the Philippines, the Redmi 7 will come in Comet Blue, Lunar Red, and Eclipse Black.
First on our checklist would be the display. At its price point, the Redmi 7 does well with its 6.26-inch LCD display, which can deliver vibrant colors no matter if you’re playing a mobile game or just watching your favorite series on the phone. The front of the handset is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 so it won’t scratch easily even if its in your bag with no screen protector.
Under the hood you have a modest but rock-solid Snapdragon 632 chip with four performance cores and four power-saving cores. Xiaomi found the perfect balance in the core composition, unlike competitor phones in the market that sport eight power-saving cores. The Redmi 7 will be able to handle a fair amount of gaming without problems and it runs on MIUI 10 with Android 9 Pie to give you a smooth user experience.
Standard in most phones within this price range nowadays are the dual rear camera setup. This maybe where the Redmi 7 will take pause, as the 12MP + 2MP combo at the back is a little lacking in the numbers game. However, AI assist is available for the Redmi 7 to give you the best possible shots depending on the scene you’re shooting in.
Rounding out the phone is a 4,000mAh battery, enough to power the device throughout the day of use and is something we’re expecting to be standard in smartphones of this price point these days. Like most Redmi phones, the 7 has an IR blaster as well, compatible with most IR-powered devices in your house, like TVs and air conditioning units.
Redmi 7 will go on sale in the Philippines starting April 19. The Redmi 7 will be exclusively sold on Shopee and will retail at P5,890 for the 2GB+16GB version, and P6,490 for the 3GB+32GB version. We will update this article if we spot actual display units at Mi stores in the city.
For those who can’t wait, Shopee will have a flash sale for the Redmi 7 on April 5 at 12 noon. During the flash sale, the 2GB+16GB version will only be offered at Php 5,290 while the 3GB+32GB will be offered at Php 5,990.
