An often-overlooked piece of hardware in your home is usually the router. Most people would think that a direct-link LAN cable to your laptop or desktop would do the thing, but this isn’t the case all the time. Most of us live with family and relatives, or a group of people that share one connection point for internet.
This is where routers come into play, and most people would just dive in and get the budget-friendly option thinking that routers only differ with the number of active connections they can handle at once. D-Link has been an old hat in the router business, and has had a great track record of products for home and office use. For 2020, the company has a new set of hardware that aims to create a fast, stable, and secure wireless internet environment for users.
A breakthrough from the traditional mesh starter kits that always come in a set of three or more devices, the EXO series includes smart mesh routers DIR-2660 (AC2600) and DIR-1360 (AC1300) and mesh extenders DRA-2060 (AC2000) and DRA-1360 (AC1300), with each router pairable with either one of the extenders for easier set up and operation.
Any pairing between the DIR-2660 or DIR-1360 router and the DRA-2060 or DRA-1360 extender forms a complete Wi-Fi mesh that covers the entire home or business to ensure uninterrupted internet connection. This setup allows the whole family or team to enjoy web surfing, video streaming, gaming and similar activities anywhere in home or office, whether in the family area, dining area, conference room or the farthest corner of the pantry.
The EXO series is equipped with McAfee Secure Home Platform to protect all smart devices connected to the router. It also has unlimited McAfee LiveSafe license protection to secure all PC, Mac, IOS and Android from unwanted risks.
Full coverage for high-performance connection in home and business
The EXO series router is powered by a dual-core processor to guarantee enough processing power to meet the most-demanding tasks such as 4K Ultra HD video streaming, online gaming and web surfing.
Each EXO router can pair with up to eight units of the DRA series–wireless and wired–to create a mesh solution even for much bigger spaces. Each DRA extender chooses the best path back to the EXO router, selects the best wireless channel and auto-recovers Wi-Fi should any of the devices go down.
The DIR-2660 router delivers a combined Wi-Fi speed of up to 800Mbps on 2.4GHz and 1,732Mbps on 5GHz. The DIR-1360 likewise offers super-fast Wi-Fi at 400Mbps on 2.4GHz and 867Mbps on 5GHz. The extenders ensure greater and faster coverage with their dual-band Wi-Fi capability. The DRA-2060 supports up to 300Mbps on 2.4GHz and 1,733Mbps on 5GHz while the DRA-1360 delivers up to 400Mbps on 2.4GHz and 867Mbps on 5GHz.
Built-in security protection and free unlimited security licenses
D-Link partners with McAfee to integrate award-winning security protection into its routers.
Each EXO router comes with a five-year gateway license that provides real-time protection to all the devices connected, including passive devices such as contact sensors and motion sensors. The router will constantly monitor traffic and alert the user of any possibility of a security compromise. To further enhance protection, it has the capability to notify the user of the latest firmware update and advise on changing the device’s default common password.
For jam-packed protection, the D-Link EXO also gives all active devices–Windows, Mac, iOS and Android–a two-year unlimited full version of McAfee LiveSafe client software to ensure they are well protected even while on the move as users may accidentally access malicious websites through hotspots. Besides the security control, the EXO provides schedule control and parental control to help parents regulate their children’s device usage. With this feature, parents can keep their children from surfing online late at night.
All set for 2020
Configuring and setting up the EXO mesh network is very easy. To connect to the internet, just download the D-Link Wi-Fi app and follow the simple step-by-step instructions to get started.
The app also features firmware over-the-air (FOTA), which automatically upgrades all devices with the latest firmware for any possible further enhancement.
The EXO series is available at all official D-Link distributors nationwide.
