The first-ever Philippine Game Development Expo (PGDX) will be happening on August 18 to August 20, 2023 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. For the first time in the history of local gaming events, the spotlight will be on the game developers and even a sneak peek at their upcoming projects.
PGDX allows the opportunity for everyone to interact, discover, and experience the creations of every developer in one place. Game developers from around the globe will also be present to introduce their works at this event.
PGDX will feature a series of attractions for the gaming community including game demos, hardware showcase, cosplay competition, community gatherings and everything in between that will keep everyone engaged. There will also be Business-to-Business (B2B) opportunities for professionals in the gaming and tech industry that feature workshops, panel discussions, and masterclasses that can enrich the experience.
What to expect at PGDX 2023
The main stage will feature well-known guest speakers from the industry’s top corporations discussing their craft. Listen to inspirational speeches to gain insight into the workings of the business. Dive into the ecosystem and get involved by speaking with and meeting the industry’s who’s who. Some of the prominent speakers that will be featured include:
• Michael Albert “Mooch” Mucci, Razer Gold’s Associate Director and Head of Account Management, who is a change leader who enjoys supporting large global consumer tech businesses in scaling their operations across multiple functions as they grow.
• Chris Murphy, the Chief Evangelist of Unreal Engine, embodies his enormous passion and dedication to game development and design.
• Christopher Natsuume, the creative director & co-founder of Boomzap Entertainment. He is one of the top independent game developers in Southeast Asia who released over 50 award-winning games on different platforms and distribution channels.
More speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
Participating Game publishers will be displaying their lineup of ongoing and upcoming gaming titles for attendees to try and discover the latest developments in the game publishing industry. Attendees can also witness the latest product innovations of selected hardware companies along with their latest promotions and offerings.
This is the first time in Philippine gaming history that game developers are the star of a gaming convention. In the past, small side events catered to game development and possible careers are present in big gaming events. In cases like ESGS and ConQuest, emphasis has been put on the actual games themselves or special guests related to gaming. This time, convention goers will be able to interact with game developers both local and international, and get to know the industry better.
