You may know him as Khal Drogo or Conan, and it has been reported that actor Jason Momoa has agreed to play the role of the King of Seven Seas in the upcoming DC Comics movie franchise. Well, it’s official, as director Zack Snyder just tweeted a teaser image for the upcoming ‘Aquaman’ movie.
For years, Aquaman has been the recipient of humor in pop culture. The whole ‘he’s only strong in water’ joke has been around for as long as the character has, and with good reason. He has a similar base power set like most of his Justice League teammates: super strong, durable, and strength of will. But Superman has a lot more powers, Wonder Woman has her lasso and Amazon fighting skills, Martian Manhunter has telepathy, shapeshifting, and intangibility. Aquaman is only strong in water.
Not anymore.
Zack Snyder took to social media to showcase how much of a badass Aquaman can be with a single tweet: actor Jason Momoa in full Sea King garb, looking more than ready to kick ass. Snyder also tweeted: ‘There is only one true King’ with the hashtag #unitetheseven to accompany the image below:
The tagline ‘Unite The Seven’ may have a double meaning, as it can refer to the ‘seven seas’, of which Momoa’s Aquaman is king, or the seven members of the Justice League: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter/Cyborg (depending on the use of the New 52 team or not), and Aquaman.
Aquaman is said to make an appearance in the upcoming ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, the two-part ‘Justice League’ movie, and his very own movie.
It’s time people knew just how much of a bad ass Aquaman can be, and this is proof of concept. Hail to the king.
