ASUS Republic of Gamers has unveiled the latest version of their gaming smartphone line: the ROG Phone 9. While the phone was not part of the brand’s CES 2025 list of products, the device has been teased for a while. The ROG Phone 9 presents a leg up from its predecessors – upgraded performance wrapped in a premium design specifically focused on gamers and tech enthusiasts.

Powerful and Stylish
The ROG Phone 9 series launches with two models: the ROG Phone 9 FE and the flagship ROG Phone 9 Pro. Both devices feature a sophisticated matte finish with a crystalized nano-texture that provides a silk-like feel and effectively resists fingerprints – a practical consideration for extended gaming sessions.
The ROG Phone 9 also features the AniMe Vision mini-LED auxiliary display. If it sounds familiar, the AniMe display first appeared in the Zephyrus G14 back in 2020 as the AniMe Matrix display. The current iteration, the AniMe Vision, was first introduced last year but still for the brand’s laptops.
For the ROG Phone 9, this feature includes 648 programmable mini-LEDs that create reactive animations in response to phone interactions. The red mini-LEDs enhance the gaming aesthetic while remaining completely invisible when not in use. This specific feature does feel like a flex, as it contributes nothing to performance but also to aesthetics since ideally, users would want to use the ROG Phone 9 together with the Aero Active Cooler X Pro, which will block the back side of the device and the AniMe Vision screen.
Cutting-Edge Performance for Demanding Games
The ROG Phone 9 Pro comes equipped with the cutting-edge 3-nanometer Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform, while the ROG Phone 9 FE utilizes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Both processors are specifically engineered to handle the most demanding mobile games at maximum settings without compromising performance.
ASUS has paired these powerful chips with their proprietary ROG GameCool technology, featuring a 360° SoC Cooling System that ensures optimal heat management even during intensive gaming sessions. For gamers who demand even more cooling power, the AeroActive Cooler X Pro attachment provides additional heat dissipation, and the ROG Chill Case offers a more passive cooling solution using Composite Vapor Chamber (CVC) material that doesn’t interfere with wireless connectivity.
AI-Powered Gaming Features
Not to be outdone with the AI-enchanced hype for devices, the ROG Phone 9 series boasts a suite of AI-driven gaming technologies:
- Sense 3.0 utilizes AI image recognition to automate in-game tasks, including auto-collecting items and even upgrading character skills
- Capture 2.0 automatically records key gaming moments like victories and team fights
- AI Grabber 2.0 employs text recognition for searching tips and now includes translation features
- AI Noise Cancellation leverages machine learning to filter out unwanted background noise during communication
Console-Like Gaming Controls
The ROG Phone 9 series continues ROG’s tradition of offering console-quality controls with the AirTrigger system. These touch controls respond to various gestures, including Dual Action, Press and Lift, and Gyroscope Aiming.
For those seeking a more traditional gaming experience, the AeroActive Cooler X Pro adds two physical buttons and the ROG Tessen mobile controller transforms the phone into a full-fledged portable gaming console.
Premium Display and Audio
For gaming and other tasks, the device uses a 6.78-inch E6 AMOLED display with an 185Hz refresh rate and adaptive refresh technology. The audio system has been carefully engineered to deliver immersive sound, complemented by the Audio Redirect feature when using official ROG Phone 9 cases. For those using the AeroActive Cooler X Pro, an integrated subwoofer adds another dimension to the audio experience.

The ROG Phone 9 series is now available nationwide at ASUS, ROG, and authorized multi-brand stores with a one-year local warranty. Early adopters can take advantage of a special limited-time price of P39,995 for the ROG Phone 9 FE (regular SRP: P44,995) and will receive a complimentary ROG Chill Case and ROG Antibacterial Glass Screen Protector worth P3,990.
