At the Samsung Unpacked event, not only did tech giant Samsung showcase the S20 series of smartphones, but they also announced the Galazy Z Flip. This device is the company’s second-generation foldable phone following the Galaxy Fold released last year. This time around, the phone thankfully folds across a horizontal axis rather than a vertical one. It looks more like a clamshell phone from back in the day, and looks to be more comfortable in the hand as opposed to the Galaxy Fold, which looks very awkward when closed.
Having a folding smartphone does present new challenges, and Samsung combined its folding glass, Hideaway Hinge, and custom-built UI and UX to create a new experience to interacting with a smart device from the ground up. And yes, the Z Flip is operational in different folding angles, so you can take photos while it’s folded up, halfway open, and fully open. Now, there’s no need to prop your phone up properly when taking a hands-free photo. Just open the Z Flip halfway and take timed photos no problem! You can even split-screen the Z Flip, where you are able to see photos and videos on the top half of the screen and have controls on the bottom half.
